It seems that there's a new and very wild worm out there on the Internet.
It's called MSBlaster or W32.Blaster.Worm. It affects Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
Click here for details from Symantec.
Your computer may try to reboot during this process. When you receive
the reboot warning follow these steps to keep your computer from rebooting.
This may have to be done a few times while downloading the patch and fix tool.
Click Start and then Run
Type in: shutdown /a
That is "shutdown (space) /a"
Click OK.
To rid your computer of this virus please follow these steps.
W32.Welchia.Worm uses the same security hole in Windows NT, 2000 and XP that
the Blaster Worm exploits by forcing your computer to download the patch from
Microsoft and install it. After it installs the patch it will restart your
computer and then attempt to remove the Blaster Worm for your computer.
Although this is a good thing that it is trying to do it is still a virus
that uses your computer without your permission and needs to be fixed.
Using the patch for the Blaster Worm will also patch for this virus.
