Uploading your Web PageThere are several ways to get your completed htm/html file uploaded to your web space. The most commonly used way is called FTP. I will explain here that process. The first step to using FTP is to find a suitable program for your needs. Just to keep it simple I will use WS_FTP LE which is free from Download.com. You can find many other FTP programs at Download.com. Now that you have your program downloaded you will need your information for logging on to your web space.. FTP server address: ftp.psknet.com Username: your_username@psknet.com Password: your_password Open Ws_FTP LE and click on the connect button if the Session Properties screen is not already up. Now in "Profile Name" put in "Pulaski Networks". For "Host Name/Address" put in "ftp.psknet.com". Host type should be set to "Automatic detect". "User ID" should be your email address. Then type in your password at the "Password" blank. You can click "Save password" over to the right if you don't want to re-enter it each time. Now, click on "OK" at the bottom and you will connect. Once you are connected you will see your web space and it's files (if any) on the right. Your computer files will be on the left. You will see a green arrow in the top of the file list. Use this to go up a directory. In order to transfer files from your computer you will click on the file on the left side and then click on the arrow in the middle pointing to the right side. This will transfer the file to your web space. After uploading your files to your web space you can access them with your browser. Say you made an index.html file and you've transferred it to your web space. Your web page will be at http://home.psknet.com/your_username/. For a web page to display you either have to go directly to that html file (ex. http://home.psknet.com/username/webpage.html) or you need to put an index.html file in the directory. A browser will look for the index.html file when it looks at a directory. If one is found it displays that page. If one is not found you will get a "Forbidden" error. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
